Grade Centre is the Interact2 system for recording and managing students’ marks for assessments and their final grades. What is not often realised is that, through its potential for analytics reporting, Grade Centre is much more than just an administrative area. The session will show how Grade Centre data flow through to trigger Retention Centre alert rules and are employed in two of the Site Analytics integrated reports.

Kirsten Locke will showcase how teaching staff in the School of Indigenous Australian Studies are using Grade Centre more dynamically in their practice, with an aim towards gaining better insights into student engagement and performance using analytics. Retention Centre in Interact2 subject sites provides an easy way for teaching staff to monitor student engagement and activity levels. The session today will demonstrate how Retention Centre can be used to capture the picture of student engagement using site accesses and then how to send notification ‘nudges’ to students who are either above or below the subject average.

Blackboard Learn Achievements permit students to see their progress through a subject as they attempt or are graded on, as examples, tests or a reflective journal entry. Using adaptive release and the mark reviewed function is an additional aspect of Achievements that allows students to track their movement through learning content.

This session looks at how you can easily and effectively set up Achievements in an Interact2 subject site as a means for students and teaching staff to gain insights into overall learning progress. In the final Q&A segment you will have opportunity to ask questions or seek clarifications

Dashboards provide a way to visualise student engagement in Interact2 subject sites. Hear about the development of a dashboard for the Lecturers in Learning and Teaching, Faculty of Arts & Education, and how it can be used to determine how student engagement relates to the design of subject sites.

Kath Herbert, Lecturer in Learning and Teaching, Faculty of Arts & Education, will describe how she uses the dashboard to talk to academics about i2 site engagement and i2 site design.

Interact2 Online Tests are used extensively as part of the learning design for many subjects to measure student knowledge and gauge progress. The effectiveness of online tests can be checked by using Item Analysis. Item Analysis provides statistics on overall individual performances and test performance. This data helps you recognise questions that might be poor discriminators of student performance.

These insights go towards improving questions for future test administrations and can provide the basis for supplementary or developmental content.
